This is not unique to beekeeping.  Farming is the same way.  Farmers will 
try a new variety or a new chemical, and when asked will reply in a less 
than positive way, even if they were very impressed.
I have found beekeepers that were very helpfull, and very willing to mentor 
a new beekeeper, but I have seen the other side too.  There are way to few 
of us that will admit to our mistakes, and keep someone else from that same 
path.
