A really interesting story on NPR this morning by Shankar Vedantam. I've attached the story and also the referencing paper, so those of you who want can cut to the study. Maybe the effect helps explained why video conferencing, despite its drawbacks and flaws is better than simply listening. Perhaps, it's better to simply see a silent video image rather than hear sound as well in some cases? Here I reflect back on the very first televised Presidential Debates between Nixon and Kennedy. Nixon won in the audio but lost the in video feed.
With respect to museum work there are a host of connections to multi-modality presentations, and perhaps even simply watching other people do exhibits.
