Mychalene,
This is a good question and I will attempt to answer with very
preliminary suggestions (there is no program yet):
- This needs to be a fun event for everyone: radio operators at museums,
museum visitors, and far-flung hams.
- Participation is open to any museum with a permanent or temporary ham
radio station. It should be OK to setup a station just for this event.
- Once a critical mass of stations responds positively, we poll among
each other to achieve a consensus of format, date and time structure,
scoring rules, and other details.
- We generate advertising materials to distribute to participants and
other organizations.
- It would be wonderful to have this posted as a club-sanctioned contest
by The American Radio Relay League. They have already supplied an
extensive list of museums to pore over.
- Individual museums should provide participation certificates to
walk-up participants, who will probably not be hams.
- Individual museums / radio clubs can respond to QSLcards (contact
confirmations from hams) with either postcards or certificates of their
own design, when accompanied by an SASE.
- It would be good to allow log submittal, to generate a ranked scoring
list which could be posted at a prearranged location, subject to
previously announced scoring rules. We would need a method for
aggregating logs, which could be automated if submitted in standard
electronic (Cabrillo) format. This will need some infrastructure to
accomplish.
Comments? Suggestions? Questions?
