I agree. My dad was taken by some pickers.  A friend of the family who
works with antiques says it is unethical for the same person to appraise
the object that is also buying the object.  I'm sure once it has been
appraised a buyer can negotiate but the buyer should not set the appraisal
price.

I mostly don't watch a lot of this since its on pay TV and I only have a
broadcast antennae which I'm quite happy with an get plenty of channels.
