I can't leave a bucket of water in the yard without receiving a letter from the City of Austin code compliance office (my next door neighbors are paranoid about mosquitoes even in a record drought). While I know that the City of San Augustine or SHPO can't do anything about treasure hunting on private property, I can't help but wonder about all the things city codes everywhere expressly forbid or require permit applications for any such undertaking. Nothing's going to stop this program, but just out of curiosity, wouldn't most cities demand permits for filming, 24-hour parking for production big rigs, etc., excavation beyond a set amount of cubic yards?
