>> we wanted to see what the bees would find in the area in terms of floral resources so we've done plant inventories
For the area from Sept Isles and north to Natashquan where the road stops,
for food supplement I was wondering if thought had been given to planting fields of plants that are of great interest to the bees in way of nectar and pollen production? Of course, you would have to plant plants whose flowers are timed differently from that of the blueberries so as to not provide competition. The plant that comes to my mind as a possible nectar source is sweet clover. Would it grow in that region? Would the timing of the flowering coincide with the flowering of the blueberries. Does red maple grow there? pussie willow (Salix caprea, Salix cinerea, Salix discolor for pollen? Wondering.
