In the study that I referenced fluvalinate was not found to have the same detrimental effects as other miticides. It may have other negative effects but not the ones that were being studied (pathogen loads and gene expression).
Coumaphos treatment changed the expression of two genes, cyp306a1
and PKAc1, while formic acid treatment affected the expression of the
PKAc1 gene only.
Both Apistan (tau-fluvalinate) and ApiVar
(amitraz) exposure did not lead to statistically significant changes
in the measured detoxification genes.
As compared to the change in pathogen load in control colonies,
none of the acaricide treatments significantly changed pathogen
loads in treated colonies
