Hello,
I am looking for recommendations for where I can find out more about a late 19th century brooch. It was found on a site that was occupied from the mid-19th century to mid-20th century, and was clearly mass-produced. The brooch looks exactly like the one pictured here: https://thejewelryladysstore.com/products/art-nouveau-lady-brooch-pin-sterling-silver, except all of the silver has worn off on ours, revealing brass underneath, and ours has lost the pin and clasp. We were able to find another brooch with the exact same size and design on ebay www.ebay.ca/itm/ART-NOUVEAU-STERLING-SILVER-LADY-HEAD-BROOCH-PIN-1-5-/141681706059?hash=item20fce3444b:g:f7QAAOSwpdpVa3~w<http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ART-NOUVEAU-STERLING-SILVER-LADY-HEAD-BROOCH-PIN-1-5-/141681706059?hash=item20fce3444b:g:f7QAAOSwpdpVa3~w>, but this brooch has a marking on the back that says "Sterling". I've tried looking through some Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Montgomery Ward catalogues but didn't find it there. Any advice on where to look next would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Rosie
