Today, the Society for Historical Archaeology is pleased to announce the launching of SHA Social: our foray into digital social media for historical archaeology. The backbone of this initiative is the new SHA Blog, which you can visit at www.sha.org/blog. Additionally, SHA is also launching a Twitter account and Facebook page, which we encourage you to follow.
SHA Social will be used in a number of ways. Not only will the blog include updates about the Society's progress on different initiatives throughout the year, but it will also include posts by SHA members about current topics or issues in historical archaeology, essays and posts on professional development, best practices in public archaeology, discussions of the newest archaeological technology, and free previews of upcoming Historical Archaeology journal issues, among other things. Most importantly, SHA Social strives to be a social area for historical archaeologists to discuss and share information about our discipline. We hope that it will become a valuable addition to the suite of resources provided by SHA, and that it will enhance your interaction with others in the discipline throughout the year.
Please take a moment and visit the site, subscribe to the RSS feed or sign up for email alerts. The, "like" us on Facebook and Follow along on Twitter. Additionally, stop by the Technology Room at this week's SHA Conference in Baltimore to learn more about our future plans for SHA Social!
For those of you following our SHA Conference blog and Facebook page: these will continue to be active during the conference, and will be taken down afterwards. All future conference material for SHA 2013 will be posted on the new blog and Facebook page. The Twitter account will simply change names, but stay the same account.
Have a Happy New Year!
