Colleagues,
I am now thoroughly convinced that my remarks to Sandra about gas pumps betrayed either a rather parochial perspective (although I was also thinking about farms I visited in Mississippi) or an inattentive perspective. I said earlier, and I meant it, that I appreciate being educated as to the greater presence of below-ground tanks. Thanks again.
Now, to the substantive issue: has Sandra received information that is relevant and useful in her efforts to learn about her gas pump? I hope so, and I hope that my lesson(s) did not detract from her need for help. So, please, direct no more e-mails to me about underground tanks (I will be saving the ones I've gotten for future reference), and, instead, turn the collective knowledge of all things Euro-american that residents in HISTARCH to helping Sandra identify, date, and find the context for her gas pump.
