On behalf of the local conference committee, we're so pleased everyone enjoyed their time in Baltimore. The 2012 conference will go down in SHA history as the second most attended conference to date...and in a recession year! (Williamsburg being the largest.) The final count was 1308 attendees.
Thank you for your comment regarding the roundtable luncheons. We apologize for the noise level. We chose that particular location because it was the most cost effective and within walking distance. We'll pass this on to future conference committees so that they can keep the noise level in mind when choosing a venue.
There will be a final Baltimore conference blog post to recap the past week at www.shaconference.wordpress.com. This blog will then be replaced by http://www.sha.org/blog/. Hope to see everyone again next year in Leicester!

Kudos, indeed.I agree that it was a great conference, and even included stunning sunset views. If some conferences gets blamed for poor weather, this one should get credit for good weather.
One question: about how many attendees?
And one gripe, or request to future planners: Please do not hold round table luncheons in a restaurant or bar. The volume of background noise made it very hard to hear the conversation I came for. I think I only caught about half of what was said. Very frustrating.(No, testing has proved I don't need a hearing aid; I just can't separate the foreground from the background noise).Meli Diamanti

I would like to congratulate the Baltimore SHA Conference Committee and SHA for a very well run, enjoyable conference in "Charm City" last week. The hotel was a good venue with all program events other than the Public Session accommodated. The sessions were well attended and it was nice to have them fairly close together on the same floor. Having the bookroom easily accessible was also very nice and there was a good range of publishers and other vendors in the room.
I enjoyed having a terrestrial archaeologist from out of country address us in the Plenary Session. That was fascinating information regarding "bog bodies" from our Irish colleague Dr. Eamonn Kelly. Being a fan of railroad archaeology, having the reception in the B & O roundhouse was awesome.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the four historic ships anchored in the Inner Harbor, as well. I knew very little about them previously. I particularly enjoyed visiting the "Chesapeake" Light Ship, a whole genre that I have missed all of my life.
All in all, a great conference. Thank you.
