Subject: Spanish Pit Saws

Does anyone have references for the use of two-man pit saws in the Spanish
period?   i am positive that they existed but have found no references in
Simmon and Turley "Southwestern Colonial Ironwork" or George Tays "Ranch and
Mission Industries of Early California".
