"Note that the LD50 for fipronil (Regent) is 3.7 to 6 ng/bee compared to Imid of 3.7-81 ng/bee. Regent is 6 max while Imid is 81 a factor of more than 10!"
But what about the lower end of the dose range that causes trouble? Both of the above you cited at 3.7 ng/bee. The max dose doesn't matter if the min dose kills them too. Or do you understand this differently?
I did a calculation that convinces me the neurological effects of imid are palpable and significant (including the imid metabolites which have the same or stronger effects in the neurological synapses) at 72 hr. after application, using data by Suchail et al.
As I said to Pat Bono, off-list: the "sublethal" analogy could be: Can we live with allergies? Yes. Are we operating at full potential? No.
So if fipronil is worse than imid...and although I haven't done any calculations on the physiological effects of fipronil, I am willing to do the work on it if given input data...what do we do about it?
