Here is a dose of reality, Bob. The Penn State team, analyzing 238 comb
samples, detected amitraz (Taktic) in 60% of them.
The initial beebread sampling by the USDA for 2012 from the states
of Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, New York, South
Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin found amitraz in 27% of samples (it
would have been higher if they had only sampled commercial beekeepers, or
had sampled after treatment).
The only way that there are going to be amitraz residue detects in those
combs is if the beekeepers had applied amitraz illegally. Welcome to
reality!
Bob, since the successful commercial beekeepers that you know don't use
amitraz, it would be of great benefit to the List if you could tell us
which products that they are having success with, the amounts that they
use, and when and how often they apply them.
