I hope we can get Erik Osterlund to chime in on this one. After our conference in 2008, while Ramona and I were driving Dee back to the airport, our guests (Erik Osterlund, Markus Baerman ((a German bee inspector)), and Michael Bush) witnessed an unusual event in our back yard....a swarm taking over a nuc. This was in Massachusetts...we've never gotten stock from Dee....our bees are known by all visitors and inspectors as quite gentle...they are not AHB.
Documentation? ...it made the cover of the Swedish beekeeping journal, Bitidningen. I don't know what exactly the text says, so hopefully Erik can translate for us, and perhaps share what he remembers....it was at the tail end by the time we returned. One of the photos is of Markus showing Ramona his goose bumps...he is really into swarming :)
