As I recall, you leave your hive equipment on the stands year-round and
there are quite a few hives without bees standing in the yards at any
given time. At least there were on both of my visits. I would imagine
that you catch quite a few swarms that way. It was January when I was
there and we noticed a swarm in one yard even then.
