I believe that it was found that just feeding sugar syrup (or it could have
been candy boards) increased Nosema in the spring. One did and the other
did not.I will check on that but I believe Tony Jadczak found that a couple
of years ago.
Also, from all I have seen on this list, nics are not found even at the
small levels noted in most colonies, much less apiaries. So how extent is
the problem? Especially as it seems to be the poster child of all that ails
us.
I agree that the larger issue is still with the much higher near lethal
doses of stuff we put in the hives.s far as the nics go, we are in the
world of trying to find a cure for our sniffles (nics) while suffering from
pneumonia (varroa, nosema and all else).
