Lots of hive losses were blamed in 2005-2008 upon ULV spraying for
West Nile Virus in the areas of Nevada in which I kept bees along
irrigation ditches.
I went over the county mosquito abatement spraying records (they were
very cooperative) plus spoke with the local aerial applicator but
couldn't find a correlation between spraying dates, locations, and
colony losses. In retrospect, this is when we started getting hit by
CCD. Have never been able to make the spraying charge stick, although
it sure sounded plausible, since bees needed to go to water.
I'm curious as to what any of you Texas beekeepers observe after spraying.
