I think these transmitter studies are the way to go, but there is a need to do it with large sample sizes, over different foraging distances and looking at a range of dosages of the pesticide being studied, especially looking at the ppb levels typically found in pollen and nectar.

If as Bayer claim, the bees were administered a dosage 'way too high' in the French study, ie. much higher than that likely to be encountered in the field,  it does not actually prove a lot.
