The point is to extend the duration of the treatment, at least through one
entire brood cycle. This is the reason for feeding in gallons of syrup--so
that the antibiotic will be stored in "honey," and then consumed over time.
Dr. Mariano Higes got good results in feeding 30mg AI in 250ml syrup (from
memory) weekly for 4 weeks.
Bob, I'm taking the time to answer your questions in detail. Please take
the time to answer mine, which I will repeat:
1. What do you feel is the reason that your problems with N ceranae did
not return? Management, or something else?
2. Your repeated statement that going off feed is an indicator of N
ceranae infection. Have you actually checked for either spore counts or
prevalence of infected bees in support of that statement?
Bob, I am interested in learning accurate information about N ceranae. I
simply wish to separate fact from opinion. Please help us out here!
