them.’


And that was in 2001. So, for all I know, Apistan might not even drop any
mites today. Understand Bill that I wasn’t promoting screened bottoms with
varroa resistant miticides. I was only saying that there was research
supporting the earlier comment:

’One suggestion that seems plausible to me is that screens may help
eliminate mites which show some resistance to acaricides and are only
stunned by the chemicals by getting them out of the hive.’

And the study I referenced does suggest that screened bottoms will probably
still enhance the efficacy of miticides where some resistance is present. That
was my only point.
