Call for Participating Teams!

The Society for American Archaeology's Committee on Ethics is pleased to
announce the Ninth Annual Ethics Bowl. Graduate and undergraduate students are
invited to organize a team of 3 to 5 participants with a faculty advisor to
take part in the event at the SAA 77th Annual Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee on April
19, 2012.

Each year, hypothetical cases that describe archaeological dilemmas are used in
the debate-style competition of the SAA Ethics Bowl to explore the ethics of
archaeological practice.

If your university is interested in participating in this year's event, please
contact us at the e-mail below. This year’s registration deadline for teams
is February 17th, 2012. To register, send an email to [log in to unmask] with
the names and email addresses of the 3-5 members of your team and your faculty
mentor. Please note: this year the number of participating teams is limited to
eight (8), due to space and time constraints at the annual meeting.

Rules and procedures for the Ethics Bowl and the 2004-2011
case studies can be downloaded from: http://saa.org/AbouttheSociety/AnnualMeeting/EthicsBowl/tabid/193/Default.aspx.
For additional information, contact the organizing committee:  Anna Browne
Ribeiro ([log in to unmask]),
Kim Christensen ([log in to unmask]) or Erin Hudson ([log in to unmask]).

We encourage you to include the Ethics Bowl cases as an integral part of your
spring term archaeology courses or activities. Case studies from previous years
make wonderful tools for teaching or materials for team practice sessions in
preparation for the actual Ethics Bowl!

Best,

Anna Browne Ribeiro, Kim Christensen, and Erin Hudson
