absolutely. SHB winters most of the time in the hive.
Many times when the hive is opened SHB hides in empty brood cells. Hard to
detect even for the most experienced beekeeper. SHB likes to be with other
SHB and when noticed usually its because a number will be on the same frame.
SHB is only a problem when they want to lay eggs (which is certainly not all
the time)
