This is a lot of fun. I have a photo of our version if anyone wants to
email me offline-- it had two marbles, one on each side of a center
post, so if you tip it to get one marble in place, then the other one
falls off its ledge. But if you set it down on the table and spin it,
both marbles go right up to the two ledges at the opposite ends of the
parabola. It's fun to watch folks try- I saw mathematicians take 15
minutes (overanalyze?) and our janitor got it right away.
I made a bunch for holiday gifts for relatives one year which was a big
hit- many went to workplaces to be sprung on their colleagues.
