Here's a thoughtful reprise on the changing nature of education, MOOC's and all that. To me, it's a perfect point to reconsider and expand the role of science museums within the educational spectrum, it ain't about informal anymore but an emergent model encompassing one's lifetime.
The academic community is frequently referred to as conservative, and the upcoming changes may be the greatest in a thousand years or 600 depending upon your cultural heritage. It's a thought provoking article.
