The hockey stick global temperature increase is real. Exactly how much can be directly attributed to human activity is not clear. The earth climate system is very noisy and subject to many variables. Humans are undoubtedly affecting the atmosphere. How much we're affecting the earth's temperature is less clear. It's probably not sunspots that are driving the system, nor changes in solar luminance over the short run.
