In what way do you think that it is tougher? We have used only thymol
crystals since 1997 when varroa arrived and have not had any issues other
than queens sometimes going off-lay for a few days.
As far as I am aware, thymol does not actually damage the adult bees,
whereas I believe that oxalic does.
