There are two terms used in the previous two discussion posts (from Dave and Joe).  One is "left - as in departed, gone away", and the other is "succumbed - as in died out".  It sounds as if the two comments are about completely different conditions.   The title of this post is "absconds" which means to leave hurriedly and secretly.  Absconding, on the surface, has nothing to do with bees dieing out.  Let's clarify the issue under discussion and make sure that we are talking about the same thing.
