I don't have citations, but I believe there was work on Civil War earthworks
adjacent to US 17 going into Charleston, SC a few years ago. Hopefully some
of the SC people on the list can provide more information.

Subject: FW: Seeking citations on Phase II testing on Civil War earthworks
We are currently working with a client to develop a scope of work for Phase
II testing/NRHP eligibility assessment of a section of Civil War defensive
earthworks. Of particular interest is how investigators have designed their
fieldwork programs to gather sufficient data to support NRHP eligibility
recommendations as part of the Section 106 process.
Would appreciate citations and if possible .pdf versions of reports on such
work. Especially interested in work over the last decade. General comments
on the process from those who have carried out such projects appreciated as
well.
Thanks,
Larry McKee
