The thread on honey bee genetics has veered wildly off course!

This is currently the case in some countries (such as Turkey), in which
there is a two-tier system for honey sold in stores. There is less
expensive "honey" that is known by all to be made from sugar syrup, and then
there is more expensive natural floral honey (both are sold in bottles and
combs).
On the other hand, in the U.S. at least, the vast majority of the commercial
beekeepers who produce honey go out of their way to produce a pure floral
crop. They only use supplemental feeding to either build the colonies up in
advance, or to give them winter stores.
