Randy, what foliar treatments are you refering to? Earlier Jerry B
stated "in IL and Indiana - everyone uses treated seed. Very little
spraying of corn with insecticides, except sweet corn."
99+% of the corn grown in the Midwest is field corn, not sweet corn.
Here's an interesting Canadian study that looked at the contact and
oral toxicity to honey bees of imidacloprid and clothianidin when used
as seed corn treatments:

On page 631 the authors wrote: "Imidacloprid and clothianidin, when used
as seed corn treatments for CFB control pose no risk to [adult] honey
bees foraging". [collecting pollen from the tassels of sweet corn]
