Need help with identification of a partial ceramic backmark that reads "SIA SHAPE". The sherd is a base with standing ring of a stoneware plate that had a dark brown colored glaze on the exterior and interior. My impression is that the plate was one of those depression era (1930s) or later colored dishes manufaactured for the plain ans simple taste of country folks by such companies as Home Laughlin China Co. (Ohio), Universl Potteries, Inc. (Ohio), Paden City Pottery (West Virginia), etc. The sherd comes from stratigraphic level 1 (topsoil[post-1867])of the François Deloeuil house and blacksmith shop (20Mr229) in Monroe , Michigan, which dated 1789 to 1867. I apologize for the long url address to view the artifact, but the website has many photos and line drawings of artifacts of the site with more being added each month. But if you paste the below address in your internet browser, it will bring you directly to the photo of the sherd. https://1772f79a-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/20mr229/archaeological-files/artifact-photographs-drawings/Food%20Service%2020Mr229%20Plate%20Stoneware%20Brown%20Slip%20Base%20Sherd%20with%20Standing%20Ring%20Interior%20Left%20%26%20Exterior%20Right%2020N40E%20Level%201%20%28Topsoil%29%20cat.%20no.%201988.229.0296.jpg?attachauth=ANoY7cq3gvZfc12-UpZbW6U7dKHWepSSeS8ICAbAT5nzT4DvakB60eKyIi7MCuMaRMK8VdbaevjogCkG4mPlIzNZ-73OMLEeHEtxwlSedL1AX-FLTxrUjwSvplp3ZCpDDColsQm4LY3htVTbRcl27kc-60HDUY89iX4IytjdQTk-V90Dna1SACZkW7ZoU8lMsHnp82Q_V6diILkgraEbEs5qloH6Zi8ASb6JUypin9b6epGiVVhEqv_9o2qdeSBJYdj4lEJSi6vF0rSNPVicrhR5pcb_pqc_wwMVpsnDd4y_VuBD07ZUuqPIST4GbwacIBcHs5r7U-bg9OccuWAzbD9TFLdo5miiBSxa2FZinJcVIPWGbalBgDAlEv9IUSqZNZl5vDVkPA25lor7WKvN-naKhrxUSNkrNJtWu1nkWMZtibwE1w6b6k02fzdwRyt6mszmn_Lg-c__Gz2FNhe7UJhNq3Pzr26Ux1yVv6a3t20vUsD3o7Mlbpk%3D&attredirects=0 Regards, Pat Tucker Assumption, Ohio, USA
