Perhaps one could mention how toxic waste can be present on many sites.
If one were to get into such wastes and become ill, could they file a legal action against the station?

I'm wondering if the best approach might be to appeal the channels; asking
them to consider not broadcasting a program that is counter to their larger
mission (history channel, natgeo, or whomever).  If they get enough email,
that might cause them to rethink.

There is a link to the casting director in the article ( not the best person
to approach)  but I have sent an e-mail asking them to reconsider their
approach to include archaeological guidance, research plans and analysis.
The show could still be a public archaeology/reality show and be done well
with positive outcomes. They don't need to go the looters/treasure hunter
route. If enough archaeologist push the same line with warnings of a public
backlash once we publicise the harm they have done it might make them modify
their approach. For one thing a program that has generated a bad publicity
campaign could be hard to sell to the networks they are looking at
presenting it too.
