I have a question (it doesn't get cold enough in my area for ice to form
inside hives). Some beekeepers advocate an absorbent material above some
sort of inner cover in order to absorb moisture. Others use nonabsorbent
insulation to divert water condensation or ice formation to the sides of
the hive.
I'd be curious to hear discussion on the fine points of absorbent vs
nonabsorbent insulation above the cluster.
