Today the MUA features another paper from our Asia Pacific collection
entitled: Understanding the Bach Dang Battlefield from Recent Research
Results.  This paper discusses the Mongols’ failed naval invasion of
Vietnam in 1281 C.E.  The Vietnamese successfully lured the Mongol fleet
into a trap and destroyed or captured perhaps as many as 400 vessels by
hiding large wooden stakes underwater.  In 2009 an international research
team joined the effort to investigate the stake yard sites.  You can read
