To Scholars and Film Makers :

Archaeological Legacy Institute is extending its deadline for paper submissions for The Archaeology Channel Conference on Cultural Heritage Film to be held May 9-11 in Eugene, Oregon, USA, in conjunction with our Ninth annual installment of The Archaeology Channel International film and Video Festival (May 8-12). The deadline for abstract and symposium submissions now is February 29, 2012. The Conference will be held at the University of Oregon Baker Downtown Center. This is an international event, with films and film-makers coming from around the globe. Conference presenters will receive tickets to all film screenings.

Papers on applications of film (academic, cultural, practical, educational) will be considered for conference presentation. There will also be an open discussion of Festival films. The goals of this conference are three-fold: (1) to promote the creation, distribution and use of cultural heritage film as an influence for broad cultural awareness and understanding; (2) to bring together educators, film-makers, archaeologists, anthropologists, historians, journalists, historic preservationists, environmentalists, geographers, and others interested in cultural heritage and its connections to the natural environment; and (3) to encourage the exchange of new ideas and approaches to employ film for the common good of all humanity.

The official call for papers is posted in our Festival area at http://www.archaeologychannel.org/content/Conference12.html. TAC Festival information may be found now at http://www.archaeologychannel.org/content/TACfestival.shtml, where hotel information is posted as well. We encourage you to participate (for no fee) even if you don’t present a paper. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at this year’s event. Please share this information as widely as possible.
