Have you tried the Society for Commercial Archeology?
http://www.sca-roadside.org/ Somewhat tangential, but in that same neck of the woods, and I'd say some of their publications and their journal may help in interpretation.

I am working on a dump site that is related to a camp area in California that once had cabins, campgrounds, a roadside cafe and auto shop between the 1920s and early 1960s. Can anyone offer resources (of particular interest are CRM reports) that might help interpret the material culture? Those resources regarding American motoring and vacation trends would be especially useful.
