Perhaps we are just better at swarm control!

Is that such a good idea? I had 2 swarms hive themselves in spare equipment
in my garden last year and I don't even keep bees in the village. I
haven't done the sums but I probably made rather more money last year dealing
with swarms and feral colonies in buildings than I did from honey (and had far
more fun).

By the way, you can add 2, maybe 3 feral stocks within my 5 mile radius
count as I had forgotten a couple of sites: one in a bungalow roof and another
where honeybees are flying in several places from a farmhouse wall. I've
been told I can put a bait hive nearby.

Has anybody calculated how long in advance of swarming bees take an
interest in a bait hive and add it to their list of possible new homes?

Chris
