Randy is right about all Russians not being dark. I get two to three
different color queens off the same breeder yet all the workers will be
dark. As for drones what you see walking in the hive is not what the
queen lays because of drone drift. When I had Italian bees in the same
yard the drone color in the Russian hive was lite yellow and the drone
color in the Italian hive was dark. In the yards without Italian bees
the drone color was all dark. I would say that drone drift is over 50%.
