Geoff said, "However in Western Australia I am
(I hope reliably) informed that excess pollen may at times be stored in
the honey supers, which implies well above the 1kg. Peter D?"
True, the Redgum flow here is usually a prolific pollen inflow as well as
nectar. Only when the honey combs are uncapped and extracted does it become
apparent how much pollen has been stored under that honey. But I don't know
anyone who weighs supers before and after extraction so have no idea the
weight of pollen stored that way. My guess would be lots more than 1kg.
When trapping pollen on the Redgum flow, 1kg a day in the traps is not
unusual. I wish all our flows were like that!
Happy days.

In Western Australia, where the Redgum is just finishing south of Perth, and
still going quite well north of Perth
