I had a beginning beekeeper call me with sad news - his two colonies of bees
are dead. He went into the hives on a warmer day to find only a hundred
bees left - and all dead - in hives that seemed strong in the fall. This
is a story that is not unusual. I did not see the hive, but he wanted my
opinion on why they died... on what neophyte mistake he had made. I gave
him my thoughts, but - with that little information - I would like to get
opinions from others. How would others have answered that question?

It was interesting that both colonies showed the same symptoms.
