Have you browsed Boris Romanov's interesting site BeeBeehavior.com? I was
intrigued by his inside-the-hive temperature data. It inspired me to find
out what's really going on inside my hives temperature-wise. So I ordered
from Walmart a Bell Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer. For $10! Here's the link:

I thought I would put the display unit inside the telescoping cover and the
sensor on the middle top bars of the bottom hive body of a two-deep hive and
see what's happening at different times of day and at different
temperatures. Am wondering whether to run the wire right down through the
hole in the inner cover through the middle of the upper box or outside, down
the side or back, and then inside to the top bars. Everybody worries so
much about whether or not to wrap, and in some cases spends so much time and
money on wrapping and different insulation and ventilating schemes. You so
seldom hear about interior temperature measurements. Here are the results
of two different tests at the BeeBehavior site:

Any suggestions, comments, or conclusions from somebody who has some
experience with this?
