I got into the habit of cross-wiring all my frames, though on brood frames, just the middle two holes. I like the new patented Kelley frames, but without cross wires, they will bow and warp--and support pins in the end have no affect of this.
Yes, it's an extra step, but sometimes doing it right the first time prevents having to do it again. I wire all my frames, even those not originally destined to be extracted.
