It with the greatest regret that I report to HISTARCH the death of Randy Amici, my good friend and colleague. Randy died on 12 September, after an illness of about a year's duration. I worked with him most recently on efforts by the First landing Foundation of Virginia Beach, Virginia to locate and investigate Henry's Town, an early 17th century English outpost near Lynnhaven Bay on Cape Henry. I also worked with him for several years at Fort Drum, New York, and deeply appreciate his critical help in starting my dissertation project, investigating maple syrup sites at that Army installation. While Randy's primary area of interest was prehistory, he made a number of significant contributions in historical archaeology, and we all appreciated his ability, keen insight, and his willingness to see things that we did not, and to pursue areas of inquiry that were otherwise neglected. Prehistoric and historical archaeology have lost a rising talent, and will be all the poorer for his passing.
