Hi Sari,

Last year, at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, we placed
geocaches in several locations in our county: a couple here at the
Observatory, but also some in state forests and parks. This was part of
a month long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Search for
Extraterrestrial Intelligence. Folks could acquire, or download and
print a Drake Equation passport and each cache as well as participating
local businesses had stamps for one or more of the factors of the Drake
Equation. Particiapants turned in their passports for a little prize at
our science center.

We had no issues with inappropriate things in our caches, but we did
lose a cache or two. They were pretty easy to find and we think a
non-cacher may have taken them.

Here's the archived website:

It was an enjoyable experience for all of us!

We are hoping to start placing some caches, but a concern has been raised about the risk of leaving the cache box (which is publicly associated with our center) where a finder could leave anything (potentially something inappropriate) in the box for the next finder.
