for a last minute addition to the astc program...
skilled, smart, self-aware rockin Baba Brinkman will be bringing his Rap Guide to Evolution to the joint.
as olivia judson in the ny times wrote:
"The lights go down. The room fills with music — a pulsating hip-hop rhythm. And then, over the music, you hear the voice of Richard Dawkins reading a passage from “On the Origin of Species” by Charles Darwin: “Whoever is led to believe that species are mutable will do good service by conscientiously expressing his conviction. For only thus can the load of prejudice by which this subject is overwhelmed be removed.”
So begins one of the most astonishing, and brilliant, lectures on evolution I’ve ever seen: “The Rap Guide to Evolution,” by Baba Brinkman."
Not sure of the actual time he will be performing at the conference, maybe after the general meeting keynote. We're also looking for someplace to do it in the evening, so if any of you columbus people have an idea, let us know. Can we sneak into COSI at night?
Most music/science stuff is well...kinda lame...but you're going to love Rap Guide to Evolution, and we're going to imagine new ways to integrate hip hop and science education.
Check out his web site and various videos that are around.
