Jeff,
Out of curiosity I googled up those statements. There were handfuls of web sites saying almost the same thing verbatim. But I did not find much in the way of hard substantiating facts or references. My guess: almost all are just restarting the original. This says a great deal about what we can trust or not trust on the internet.
I agree with Stephanie. This needs to be broken down. If for no other reason that the fact that people will think that "air" is a gas of it's own and not a compound of other elements.
Have you asked the other "department" to provide back up on this? Another guess on my part: they found one of those dozen web sites as well.

> 'Air becomes liquid at about minus 190 degrees Celsius.' (for clarity, wouldn't a gas composing air need to be specified, like nitrogen at -196 C)
> 'Liquid air looks like water with a bluish tint.' (this confuses me, as I always thought of air as a 'fluid,' unless this is in reference to liquid oxygen or liquid nitrogen)
