In the programs I managed in the past, I had very few complaints when we went to polo or oxford style shirts with the logo on the pocket.  All the colors matched staff colors so everyone was identifiable.  I also had an option of sweaters that were in a sort of letterman style...and I did include an apron with deep pockets on the front.  The aprons were very popular with the older ladies and with folks who did a lot of activities in the pre-school area and in some of the exhibit halls.  (These aprons were like a bib apron with the logo on the bib top, they tied around the back.  I also had an option of a classic vest which was popular with our greeters.
