Jeremy -
For our main web site we use a local group that works with New York
City culturals called Raven Creative. They have their own proprietary
CMS called Atlas Workcenter. We do not do any of the hosting of either
the web site or the CMS ourselves, they do it all for us. We access
the CMS through a web browser to do any updates. Also, our website is
hosted by them. We like this model, b/c we have no hardware or
maintenance overhead. We try to outsouce as much of this kind of thing
as possible. Of course we pay a monthly fee for the privilege.
The only other CMS we have worked with is one created by IBM for us
based on Lotus Notes and WebSphere, called the e-Publisher. This is
what we use for updates to the TryScience Web site. TryScience is
pretty complicated with its own multiuser gaming server, search
engine, Websphere-DB/2, mail and web/media server. In this case, we do
the hosting but IBM helps us maintain it all remotely.
I look forward to seeing your new design.
