In "Successful Queen Rearing" by Dr. Marla Spivak and Gary Reuter the
authors recommend the Doolittle method and suggest the construction of a
"swarm box" which they describe as follows:

" . a 5 frame nuc made extra deep with screened vents on the sides and
bottom. It will hold 5 standard size deep frames leaving 4-6 inches under
the frames for ventilation and placement of moist sponges which provide
humidity and water."

Sounds like two medium 5 frame nuc boxes with deep frames inside would get
this job done. Question: Is this extra depth and the addition of wet
sponges really necessary for successful queen rearing?
